Bozeman Bike Swap

With spring in full swing—and gas prices in high gear—there’s no better time to get on a bike. Whether you’re a lifelong biker or a velocipedic neophyte, the Gallatin County Fairgrounds is the place to be this April, for the Gallatin Valley Bike Club’s annual Bozeman Bike Swap. Similar to the ski swap, the Bike Swap accepts all kinds of bikes and biking-related gear on consignment, offers fitting and pricing assistance, and early entry for Bike Club members. Drop off your items between 8 and 10 am; sale runs from 11 to 1. According to Patrick Hatfield, one of the event’s organizers, this is an event for everyone. “The Bike Club’s goal is to promote all types of cycling in the Gallatin Valley,” he says, “and to serve as a conduit to connect people with common interests in cycling.” In the past, the Swap has seen everything from top-of-the-line road and mountain bikes, to cruisers, kids’ bikes, commuter bicycles, BMX, beaters, tandems, and even antique bikes. What’s more, the proceeds go toward fun semi-annual Bike Club parties and events, as well as various biking-related charities: Eagle Mount, helmets for schoolkids, donations to injured riders, etc. So whether you’re buying, selling, or just browsing, rest assured that you’re supporting one of the coolest clubs in southwest Montana.
