Review: Fishpond Dog Gear

Dogs are easy to please. And the adventurous outdoor dogs of Bozeman are no exception. They live in our boats, truck beds, and tents; they’re covered with mud and dirt; and they’re happy as can be. But sometimes, when they’ve worked their tails off or been particularly obedient, we like to reward them with a little TLC. We tried some gear from Fishpond (fishpondusa.com) so we could spoil these guys rotten after their grueling day.

I had to take a picture of this—my dogs usually follow us around the house all day and lay at our feet no matter what, but now I can’t get them to leave their Bow Wow Dog Bed ($179), and I have a sneaking suspicion this thing is nicer than my bed. It has a poly-fill pillow insert that feels like down and is covered in a soft, denim-like cotton canvas. Thankfully, it doesn’t put a death-grip on dog hair like most fleece dog beds; rather, the shed fur comes off easily in the wash or with a brush. And at 42 inches around, it’s large enough for two dogs to share.

Most leashes we’ve purchased over the years have been chewed straight through—they tether and fray while your maniac dog is being leash-trained. The Bow Wow Dog Leash ($16), though, is made of hardcore webbing like you’ll find on most of Fishpond’s fishing gear. Its six-foot length gives your pooch ample room to roam. Plus, it’s got a cool design and is as colorful as your pup’s personality.

Fishpond products can be found at Greater Yellowstone Fly Fishers, Montana Troutfitters, Bozeman Angler, Powder Horn, and River's Edge.
