Storm Castle is a rocky peak sitting atop the east wall of Gallatin Canyon. The hike begins at Storm Castle Creek and climbs the mountain's south-facing slope to a dramatic, multi-tiered summit, where there are sweeping 360-degree views of the adjacent mountains and canyons.

Directions: From Four Corners, take Hwy. 191 south toward Big Sky. Drive 16.7 miles to Storm Castle Rd. (formerly Squaw Creek Rd.) on the left, between mile-markers 66 and 65. Turn left, cross the bridge over the Gallatin River, and curve to the right. Continue 1.9 miles to the posted parking area on the left.

Relatively easy hike with big rewards up top. I would recommend treking poles the trail can get very steep at certain points. Bring water!

This one is a calf-burner, as the ascent is pretty steep and pretty quick, but the views from the top are incredible.

A quick and fun hike with a nice view and some cool rock perspectives. I never noticed the trail being too steep like these other guys, but it is a nice little workout. My recommendation is to hike up early around 4am (with a headlamp!) to watch the sun rise at the summit. Breathtaking!

If you have just a couple hours but want an a quick hike just out of town, this is one of my favorite choices! Since the trail isn't very shaded, you heat up quick in this hot summer sun but the view from the top is always worth it. It's a shame you still see infrastructure from the top, but the mountains make up for it with their grandeur!

What's your take?

So, what do you REALLY think?
